Boiler Plant Upgrades

Atkinson Engineering Inc. projects related to the Central Boiler Plant include the following:

• Expansion of Central Boiler Plant to accommodate two new 600 H.P. coil tube steam Boilers No. 4 and 5. Engineering included building expansion and renovations; all services to boilers; modifications to steam distribution; and relocation of degasifier, chemical treatment system and diesel generator.
• Economizers for Boilers No. 2 and 3 were replaced to increase the efficiency of preheating the make-up water. Modifications were required to the stack, building roof structure, support system and piping.
• An economizer and new stack was added to Boiler No. 1. Existing stack support steel was modified to suit.
