Aluminum Melting Furnaces

Atkinson Engineering Inc. has completed various projects related to aluminum melting including:

  • A new aluminum melting furnace installed in 2002. Project included furnace foundations with spill pit, fume collection hood, stack, reinforcing of existing roof structure, thermal barrier to protect roofing, and upgrades to building ventilation system.
  • A new melting furnace and incinerator installed in 2000 to provide molten aluminum to two new die-casting machines. Project included furnace foundation and spill pit, fume collection hood, and gas-fired rooftop incinerator and support structure.
  • New Furnace Stacks - Three existing furnace stacks were replaced with high stacks in 2000 as part of air emissions improvements. The stacks were supported on new steel framework above the existing roof.
  • Furnace Hood and Rooftop Incinerator - New high temperature hood to straddle existing furnace was built in 1998. This was extended in 1999 to support a rooftop incinerator to burn off waste gases.
