Heating, Ventilation And Air Conditioning (HVAC) Studies
A frequent mandate for Atkinson Engineering Inc. is to assess
existing spaces and mechanical ventilation systems and develop improvements.
This often leads to design of the solutions recommended.
Some of these projects are as follows:
McMaster University - Phoenix Bar Ventilation Study - An
investigation to determine whether the existing ventilation system
meets building code requirements and report of findings.
McMaster University - ABB Chemical Storage and Dispensing Fire
Code Compliance Report - Study for compliance equivalency to
house the chemical storage facility in the basement of A.N. Bourns
Building using alternate methods of compliance with the Ontario
Fire Code based on a risk assessment approach.
McMaster University - Togo Salmon Hall Cafeteria Cooling Study
- A review of the existing cooling loads versus HVAC system capacity
with report and recommendations for upgrades.
Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital - Smoking Room Ventilation Study
- Review of all smoking rooms in the facility to determine upgrades
required to meet Codes with a report on recommendations and cost
estimates.
Chedoke Hospital - Evel Building HVAC System Assessment
- Review of an existing building HVAC system for feasibility of
its use in a new occupancy complete with report.
Hamilton General Hospital - Room 6S-2 Over-Cooling - A
study into room over-cooling problems including field measurements,
system review, and recommendations.
Hamilton General Hospital - ICU Cooling Study - Analysis
of existing ventilation and cooling loads and preheat system cooling
capacity for nurses' station rooms. Study included site investigations,
review of existing drawings, and recommendations for providing additional
cooling.
Hamilton-Wentworth Roman Catholic Separate School Board - Administration
Centre, Lobby Air Conditioning Study - An engineering study
of insufficient cooling in the lobby. Report included recommendations
for improvements.
McMaster University - Life Sciences Building, Ventilation and
Make-up Air Study - An investigation of existing ventilation
conditions in a variety of laboratories throughout the building.
Report included recommendations and cost estimates for mechanical
equipment improvements, device interlocking, and air balancing adjustment.
